The so called relaciones de noticias (newssheets) exist as a form of ancient journalism since at least the 15th and 16th centuries, but it was during the 17th and 18th centuries when they were most developed as a way of communicate individual news. Thousand of different titles were published at almost every place in Spain and Portugal where a printing press was. During the second half of the 17th century in Spain and during all the 18th century the relaciones lived all together with the gazettes, or miscellaneous news sheets, that became periodicals and formed the daily press as we currently know it. Those newssheets containing just one news were of different form and type, nevertheless most of them were short stories -normally four pages-, and quick selling. We now transcribe three of those newssheets, which we owned, from both the 17th and the 18th centuries, describe the newswriting and images used in them, and explain how we digitised them.
